[SMM Hydrogen Energy Policy Express] Hunan Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology: Released the "Public Notice on Low-carbon Hydrogen Application Scenarios in Hunan Province's Industry"

On June 18, the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Hunan Province issued the "Public Notice on Industrial Low-Carbon Hydrogen Application Scenarios in Hunan Province."

According to the notice, there are five application directions: clean hydrogen substitution, hydrogen metallurgy, hydrogen-nitrogen coupling, transportation equipment, and green microgrids.

There are 17 application scenarios: hydrogen flame cutting, hydrogen-assisted combustion in industrial traditional fuel boilers, low-carbon combustion technology applications for daily ceramics based on green electricity-based hydrogen production, PEM water electrolysis for hydrogen production (green hydrogen production for special ceramics), hydrogen-oxygen flame cutting for steel continuous casting billets, hydrogen-based low-carbon metallurgy and protection technology, R&D and pilot application of flexible variable-load (multi-steady-state) green ammonia production technology and complete sets of equipment, large-power hybrid electric shunting locomotives (rail transit vehicles) powered by hydrogen energy, integrated green electricity-based hydrogen production and hydrogen refueling stations, as well as hydrogen transportation demonstration projects, R&D and application of permanent magnet motor systems for electric heavy-duty trucks based on liquid hydrogen cooling technology, mobile hydrogen energy "production-storage-refueling" integrated systems for low-carbon transportation, hydrogen fuel cell truck hydrogen refueling and testing equipment and facilities at the BAIC Foton Changsha Super Truck Factory, large-power hydrogen fuel cell municipal environmental cleaning vehicles, electric-driven transportation sectors such as buses, trucks, and rail transit, large-power metal bipolar plate fuel cell urban buses, demonstration applications of green hydrogen-electricity coupled AC-DC microgrids, and AI-based distributed PV hydrogen production (solid-state hydrogen storage) combined heat, power, and gas supply systems.

Public Notice on Industrial Low-Carbon Hydrogen Application Scenarios in Hunan Province

In order to implement the "Implementation Plan for Accelerating the Application of Clean and Low-Carbon Hydrogen in the Industrial Sector" issued by the General Offices of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Development and Reform Commission, and the National Energy Administration, accelerate hydrogen energy technology innovation and large-scale application, promote green and low-carbon transformation in the industrial sector, and provide reference experiences for hydrogen substitution in the industrial sector across the province, our department has collected a batch of industrial low-carbon hydrogen application scenarios across the province. After voluntary applications from enterprises, recommendations from cities and prefectures, and expert reviews, we are now publicizing 17 industrial low-carbon hydrogen application scenarios.
